College Survival Tips:

Well, I’ve finally made it to my senior year of college and it has been quite the journey that I can sum up in one word: Nightmare! Haha…of course there were good times, but all in all when you are REQUIRED to do something with not only money but time and investments on the line that you never thought were possible, it can be quite miserable until the mindset is changed. I’ve had numerous people in my ear, especially during the start of my college career. My main focus as of now is completion, because I believe in finishing what I have started just as my Father in Heaven has. This is basically a few tips to not only survive college, but to graduate college. I hope that these are beneficial to you and if anything is missing, feel free to comment.

Note: If I can advise you in anything, please pursue what you are passionate about.

What College Has Taught Me in the Past 3 Years:

1.      Pursue and do what you love. (What do you enjoy? What are your gifts and talents?)

2.      Choose and do what YOU desire to excel in. (What do you want to exceed in & deliver to the world?)

3.      Educate yourself. (Read books, articles, & watch documentaries outside of class)

4.      READ.

5.      Take head to both instructions and warnings.

6.      Procrastination works only if you do not necessarily care to fully understand and obtain the information; therefore if you desire to fully comprehend, take time to read, take good notes, study, and ask questions. Do not wait until the last minute to cram everything in as it can produce great stress.

7.      Know your learning style. (Get help/ take a quiz if needed)

8.      Value moments to network and get to know others.

9.      Be professional and dependable at all times; you never know who the next blessing/ open door will come through. (YOU ARE THE BRAND!!)

10.  REMAIN POSITIVE.

11.  Do your best work.

12.  ALWAYS TRY. ( A “0” should be unacceptable)

13.  Focus on BEING PRODUCTIVE not just busy.

14.  Completion is rewarding in itself; follow through with what you have started.

15.  Set goals for yourself; both short and long term.

16.  BE THANKFUL!

17.  If you do not know; NEVER ASSUME, ASK QUESTIONS!! No question is a dumb question. If the professor disagrees, then he/she is just an asshole and 9/10 is unhappy with his/her life. (I’ve met a few that admit to hating their job as professors yet will not leave.)

18.  Some professors actually care whether or not you understand the material (Value them); while others do not. In real life scenarios, some individuals will truly care about helping you grow and succeed whereas others will not (their mere focus may be the next paycheck.)

19.  BE ON TIME.

20.  PRAY!

21.  Do not give up when it gets hard; FIGHT!

22.  In most cases, try to be flexible; things happen.

23.  Be truthful.

24.  DO UNTO OTHERS AS YOU WOULD HAVE THEM DO UNTO YOU.

25.  Celebrate others.

26.  Make time for yourself. (Resting, Traveling, Shopping, Outings, etc.)

27.  Sow into others (time, money, skills; what do you have that others may benefit from?)

28.  Step out of your comfort zone; you’ll meet others from all walks of life and cultures who may impact you or vice-versa.

29.  FIND A MENTOR. (Someone who is or has been where you plan to go, who can offer you advice, encouragement, guidance, support, and also help you to develop as a person. These relationships are priceless!)

30.  Last but not least; HAVE FUN!! You’ve got one life to live and for many of us only one college experience, unless of course you decide to go back and further your education. I salute you!
