How We Compromise

How we compromise then televise the very things that we despise
How we part our mouths, spread our legs, and reveal our thighs
How we hide the truth of who we are and accept the lies
Oh how we compromise

How we quickly lose focus and delay our goals
How we so easily forsake our very own souls
How we accept the faulty beliefs of the world
How we gain amnesia in regard to His Word
How we become so small in comparison to the royal size
Oh how we compromise

How we envy our brothers and sisters for whom we should love
How we forgo taking others under our wings to rise above
How we so easily forget where we came from, our culture, our hometown
How we become lost and ignore the thought of being found
How we become deaf to His voice, His Word, His sound
Oh how we compromise

How we forget to sow and yet still expect a great harvest
How we ignore and turn a blind eye on those in the streets who may be homeless and starving
How we take the blessing, the inheritance and blow it on alcohol, drugs, arrangements, and partying
How we become oblivious and unconcerned that we are responsible for future outcomes, being that what we sow today, we shall reap in due time
Oh how we compromise

How we break bread with a loved one only to soon turn, shoot, kill, and murder that same one, the dead one
How we laugh and smile in faces, then turn on them because of hate and racism
How we say "no" in the light to the wrong, yet transform in the night denying what's right
How we embrace the inner struggle to be good and politically correct yet never truly take time to reflect so when faced with opposition, we don't negotiate, we argue and fight because we're in the most powerful and prominent position
How we become deaf, egotistic, and refuse to forgive and listen
Oh how we compromise then televise the very things that we despise
