Above That Bright Smile

Above that bright smile are swollen eyes from tears that could fill a lake
Within is a heart that continues to ache
From a faith that's been shaken to the core
Leaving the mind and intellect sore
As she attempts to understand if she walked through the correct door
Was she hearing clearly or simply distracted
By the lusts that invaded her privacy
And dismissed part of her identity

Above that bright smile are swollen eyes from tears that could fill a lake
Within is a heart that continues to ache
As it continuously flows with love then breaks
Like a levee with too much pressure and debris
Loving and no longer discerning deception
Making excuses and certain exceptions

Above that bright smile are swollen eyes from tears that could fill a lake
Within is a heart that continues to ache
And a body that continues to shake from anxiety, worry, fear, and doubt
Deep within her mind; it's hard to figure out
Passion? Dead.
Purpose? Invisible.
Life? Priceless.
She thinks to herself to put an end to it
Suicide, kill the pride
No one understands who she is
Lost identity
Faithless
Hopeless
No longer focused
No vision; we perish, she perishes

Above that bright smile are swollen eyes from tears that could fill a lake
Within is a heart that continues to ache
As she unveils the real and the fake
And is confronted with her own mistakes
To return to her vomit that she had once left
To welcome the hypocrisy of the religious that she was previously freed of
To embrace men that wanted to spread and multiply too quickly instead of heed the instincts
To chase the coins that cost her identity simply for security

Above that bright smile are swollen eyes from tears that could fill a lake
Within is a heart and soul that continues to ache
For authentic love, affection, and divine protection
Let it be a lesson
Understand that we are more than what meets the eye
Though we smile, laugh, and grin
Some of us truly want life to end
We need authentic love and support
Not condemnation
Connect
Jesus commanded us to "love thy neighbor as thyself"
We're in a fallen world at a fallen state; and we hurt daily
We heal then get hurt again
As time goes on; we become stronger
The hurt doesn't stop; but it doesn't hurt as much as it once did.

Above that bright smile are swollen eyes from tears that could fill a lake
Within is a heart that continues to ache...
