Authentic You

People confess that they want the authentic you

Not understanding that you're giving them the real you

The one who has been chastened, forgiven, and healed

Who dismissed the anger harvested from betrayal

Who forgave the "friends" that assaulted you and disposed of you like yesterday's trash

Who chose to love, value, and choose self first

Are you expected to hold onto anger, bitterness, and vengeance?

You learned long ago that it hinders you most

So you walk with confidence and your head held high

And focus your energy on self, peace, and positivity while letting the bs fly

You see through a different lens

You see, it toughened you, didn't break you nor leave you to die

Instead it enlightened you not to trust every well dressed lie and rather to use a discerning eye

Though not perfect, it does lessen the heartache and battles

Wisdom is birthed through experience, passed down from those who've lived through it, and also granted from God when one humbles self and simply asks for it

Peace is power and once grasped then secured should never be dismissed for your own benefit and sanity

As you evolve, you transform into a greater you

Constantly becoming, becoming the authentic you

As a seed was never intended to remain in seed form

It blooms, relatively speaking, into what and/or who it was created to be

You were once a seed and as time progressed you grew and will continue to grow

People confess that they want the authentic you

Not understanding that you're giving them the real you that has evolved
